16+ million TV and radio fans heard about 811 from CGA in August

In recognition of 8/11 Day 2022, CGA President and CEO Sarah Magruder Lyle participated in a series of TV and radio interviews with national and local media to emphasize the importance of contacting 811 before digging. The 20 interviews on 8/11 Day reached more than 16 million Americans in markets across the country through 1,700+ airings last month alone.

During the satellite media tour on Aug. 11, Sarah relayed critical information to professionals and homeowners about the importance of utilizing the 811 system for every dig, every time. The interviews reviewed the key steps of the safe digging process, as well as the serious consequences of failing to notify prior to excavating.

Airing in cities across the country, the interviews brought 811 to national and local news programming throughout August in an effort to educate the public and excavators about how important it is to excavate safely. If you have not already seen the coverage in CGAlert, you can view an interview on the Houston NBC affiliate here.

CGA also issued a press release on 8/11 Day over a national newswire, which was picked up by 229 news outlets. and had a potential audience of 163 million readers. Our media relations efforts joined those executed by members to generate a groundswell of news coverage on and around Aug. 11.

CGA thanks all our members for sharing your creative 8/11 Day campaigns, and we appreciate your year-round support of damage prevention.
