Working Together to Protect Underground Utilities This 8/11 Day
Today is 8/11 Day, and CGA is excited to see what you have planned this year to spread awareness about 811 and safe digging to homeowners and professionals around the country.
This year's 8/11 Day will be the first since CGA launched the new national 811 tagline, "Safety is in Your Hands. Every Dig. Every Time”, and we look forward to this new 811 message reaching homeowners and professionals across the country by way of your creative efforts. 8/11 Day is a great opportunity to incorporate the updated 811 message into your outreach efforts, whether through social media, safety trainings, local partnerships or other means.
It’s not too late to take advantage of the tools that CGA has to offer in the 8/11 Day Toolkit, which is equipped with media outreach templates, interview guides, social media messages, new infographics and more to help you effectively spread the safe digging message this 8/11 Day. We also encourage you to leverage CGA’s excavator toolkit, which includes 8/11 Day materials to help you educate excavators about 811 and safe digging practices. The new tagline and 811 logo animation, including the Spanish version, can be accessed in a variety of file types here.
This 8/11 Day, CGA is excited to be partnering with Major League Baseball to drive awareness of 811 and safe digging practices among baseball fans across the U.S. Eye-catching 811-branded virtual signage and advertisements will be on display at games around the country, educating attendees on the significance of always contacting 811 before every dig. At the Nationals game in D.C., PHMSA will be hosting 8/11 Day at the Ballpark once again, featuring a PSA from Secretary of Transportation Buttegieg to remind fans of this critical public safety step.
We want to hear what you have planned for today! Be sure to share your organization’s plans with CGA and your fellow stakeholders on Engage, and remember to tag CGA on social media so we can help amplify your efforts. Thank you for participating in 8/11 Day each year to bring greater awareness to 811 and help protect critical underground utilities, and those who live and work near them!
