CGA recently released its 2022 Damage Information Reporting Tool (DIRT) Report, a critical resource for understanding the state of the industry and targeting areas for improvement as we strive to reach our 50-in-5 goal of reducing damages by 50% over the next five years.

To dive into the key findings of the 2022 DIRT Report, CGA has released a variety of helpful tools, including data sheets, infographics, social media content and presentation decks.

Data sheets serve as a concise and informative snapshot of the report's major findings, making it convenient for members to effectively share the Report’s key takeaways and implement respective recommendations into their organization. Download the 2022 DIRT Report data sheets today:

  • Overview & Recommendations: Provides a summary of the Report’s findings and the recommendations for addressing top root causes.
  • No-Notification Damages: Takes a deeper look at the no. 1 persistent root cause contributing to 25% of damages.
  • Late & Inaccurate Locates: Highlights the emerging crisis of late locates and addresses the importance of timely and accurate locates for the 50-in-5 industry goal.
  • Failure to Maintain Clearance/Pothole: Examines a consistent top root cause occurring mainly during utility work.

For the first time, CGA has also provided members with a 2022 DIRT Report LinkedIn carousel graphic, which can be used to share compelling visuals, statistics and insights from the Report with professional connections. To share the carousel on LinkedIn, click into the dialogue to start a post, then select the ellipse “More” button at the bottom of the post window. Clicking the ellipse opens up additional media upload options – select  the “add a document” option and upload the carousel PDF.

We encourage you to incorporate graphs and charts from the 2022 DIRT Report into your key presentations and webinars, as well as on social media and other communication channels. By sharing these compelling visuals, you can foster a broader understanding of the challenges facing our industry, sparking valuable discussions and facilitating positive change among fellow stakeholders.

We hope you find the 2022 DIRT Report member tools to be valuable and we look forward to seeing how you incorporate the data sheets, social media content and graphics into your educational and awareness efforts. If you have not already, be sure to check out the 2022 DIRT Report to learn about the current damage prevention landscapes and the key challenges facing our industry, and how your organization can aid in our shared 50-in-5 damage reduction goal.
