Seeing Is Believing: State of Virginia Improves Underground Utilities Locating with Manifest Tools
For several years, multiple organizations in Virginia have worked together with stakeholders to develop marking standards that are best practices in the state, including the creation of utility manifests. Recently, other states (and Canadian provinces) have recognized the value and begun to explore manifest marking best practices too. It's easy to see why. By creating a virtual and visual sketch of where underground utilities are located, organizations can significantly reduce damage occurrence, create electronic documentation and improve response times.
This presentation showcased how organizations are using virtual underground facility mapping to equip excavators with better information and create continuous improvements in their processes, along with visibility into the effectiveness of locates and technicians.
